Konoba Maha — Korčula Island
Our Story

Nature, Sustainability, Authenticity

Our passion lies in transforming the wild richness of Korčula into something entirely new. More than two decades ago, we began our story in the island's hills with nothing but an old stone house and a donkey. From the start, we have lived in harmony with nature—drawing energy from the sun and water from the rain. Built with the help of family and friends, Konoba Maha has grown into a hedonistic oasis where tradition and nature converge.

In our kitchen, a family—mother, father, and two sons—reimagines traditional dishes using local ingredients and open-fire cooking. Our cuisine celebrates simple, memorable flavors and the warmth of a shared meal. We aim to offer every guest a unique experience that combines the heart of a family dinner with top-tier gastronomy.

Though our story started in a small Adriatic village, it has since reached a global audience. Our dedication to quality led to a feature on the Netflix series Somebody Feed Phil, where we proudly presented the best of Croatian cuisine and our island's culinary heritage. We are honored to share the authentic atmosphere of Korčula with the world.

From Our Gardento Your Table

The love for cooking was woven into our family by our grandmother, who spent decades working as a professional chef. Since then, that passion has been passed down through generations, along with our carefully preserved recipes and skills. Everything we bring to the table is sourced directly from local farms and our own private garden.

A lush green garden surrounds the restaurant—our primary source for over twenty varieties of herbs, hand-picked daily for our cocktails and cuisine. For those who prefer fine wine over spirits, we offer an extensive selection of indigenous local varieties alongside some of Croatia’s most prestigious labels.

The Signature

Peka

Our most celebrated dish

Our dishes are rooted in tradition, but the signature of Konoba Maha is peka. Prepared under a traditional iron bell and slow-cooked over glowing embers, it develops deep, rich flavors and exceptional tenderness. As peka requires several hours of preparation, we kindly ask that it be ordered in advance.
